從About Libav來看，libav是FFmpeg developer大戰之後的產物，不過從git commit和網頁更新來看，兩邊好像還是有互通？ 在ffmpeg-devel mailing list，有時可以看到像是論壇筆戰一樣的來回，說穿了就和小孩子吵架一樣，浪費時間，毫無生產力。在2010年時，這樣的文章突然上升，而且是開發者之間，搞得烏煙瘴氣 ..., 可以参考这遍文章The FFmpeg/Libav situation. 简单地说，原来FFmpeg的一群开发者不满FFmpeg的项目管理方式，所以fork了新的一个项目，叫libav。 结果是增加了竞争，让FFmpeg更新的更频繁，FFmpeg经常把Libav的提交合并回FFmpeg；但是就链接作者所说，libav的开发也有很多自己的问题，所以FFmpeg ..., Now days libav also happens to be a stable version of ffmpeg,similar to ubuntu project being considerd as the stable version of debian(ubuntu base branch is debian stable). I am also stating this because most of the libav developers were also the devs in, So, as we learned from the Who can tell me... link, when libav forked from FFmpeg they also temporarily supplied their version of ffmpeg .
