She doesn't have a van, but ..., As an auxiliary verb (does) is used before a full verb to form negative sentence; eg:-(he,she it )does not have money. (I, you, we, they) do not ..., She doesn't have a book. I KNOW when you add "doesn't" (the not have) you must change had to have. BUT, why is this so? Why can't we say ..., She has a pencil. She doesn't have a pencil. She hasn't a pencil (I think this one is wrong, but I'm not sure) She does have a pencil (I think this ..., I find this very strange and weird, I don't get it. So we know that with the pronouns he/she, we would use 'has'. However, with I, you, they, and ...,She does not have a coat. She had a coat. She did not have a coat.
