NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS:
Arrangement Editing:
- When copying a time selection inside an automation lane, this can now be pasted upon the content lane. The copied automation will always land in the correct lane
Automation:
- When nudging a time selection in an automation lane, the automation outside the selection remains unchanged
- Enabled vertical auto-scrolling when dragging an automation lane
- Reintroduced the toggle button for showing/hiding additional automation lanes

MIDI editor:
MIDI note chasing now works when:
- scrubbing in the Arrangement View
- restarting transport using "Shift" + "Space" in the Arrangement View
- scrubbing in the Detail View of an Arrangement clip
- scrubbing in the Detail View of a Session clip
- Previously, there was a possibility that all MIDI notes in a key could disappear when stretched to an extremely small size (e.g., when using the ":2" button). This has now changed, and further stretching is not possible once notes reach a very small size
New Devices and Device Improvements:
- Filter curve visualisations in Wavetable are updated in real time in cases where e.g. an LFO or Envelope is mapped to the filter cutoff frequency
Setup:
- On Windows, Live now cleanly shuts down when a user logs out, shuts the computer down or reboots it. It also displays a message explaining why it is preventing the computer shutting down, giving the user 30 seconds to abort shutting down and save the Set
- Updated various info texts
- Added translations for the following lessons: "A Tour of Live", "Recording Audio", "Creating Beats", "Playing Software Instruments" and "Max for Live Devices"
- When re-opening Live, the state of the Computer MIDI Keyboard on/off toggle is now remembered
Wavetable:
- In Wavetable's Mod Matrix, the left column containing target names now features bars that indicate the unmodulated and modulated value of the respective parameter. Additive modulation is indicated by a bipolar bar starting from the unmodulated value, while multiplicative modulation is indicated by a unipolar bar starting from the left
- When Live's transport is started or if there is a jump in beat time, Echo and Wavetable LFOs now update their phase if they are beat-synced
BUG FIXES:
Arrangement Editing:
- Previously, when freezing a track, the hatched pattern that indicates frozen tails would also erroneously appear in the track's clip headers
- Previously, start and end markers for unwarped audio clips were erroneously quantized to the grid
- Creating a warp marker could trigger scrolling of the selected clip under certain circumstances
- Previously it was not possible to adjust the loop start position in unwarped audio clips without quantization
- A crash would occur when editing the crossfade between two very short clips
- Fixed a crash when removing a device that showed a parameter in an additional automation lane while the mouse is hovering over the parameter's automation
- The "Select Track Content" context menu command would not work on multiple selected tracks
Automation:
- Previously, when copying an Arrangement clip with existing automation to another track, automation would not be copied even if the target track and source track contained identical devices. Also, if a track is created by dragging a clip into the Arrangement drop area, all automation is now copied over and set to the the correct time
- Copying and pasting automation might lead to unexpected results, if the copied selection extended across multiple tracks
- The Show/Hide Additional Automation Lanes button is now always visible when unfolding a track that has been folded by resizing
- When pressing the Option (Alt) key and clicking on a track's Unfold Track button, the position of that track does not change
- MIDI Ctrl or Mixer modulation envelopes would be lost when dragging a clip from Arrangement to Session View
- Live could crash on Windows when clicking on a breakpoint while holding the grid modifier
- Positioning fade handles with arrow keys was not working correctly
Browser:
- AU plug-in default presets (.aupreset files) were no longer shown in the Live 10 browser
- Files from the "Current Project" label might fail to appear in the browser under certain circumstances
- File types unsupported in certain editions and when run as a ReWire slave (e.g., .amxd and .aupresets) erroneously appeared in Live's browser
- .M4A audio files would not show up in Live's browser anymore
Control Surfaces:
- Added bank definitions to Wavetable for third-party control surfaces
File Handling:
- Previously it was not possible to delete files or directories with names containing slashes
- Previously, toggling Automation Mode would create an Undo step
- Fixed a crash that occurred if a Live Set contained "{}" characters in its name
- Plug-ins and Sets that are saved in directory junctions on Windows work again
- Live would crash when launching the program by double-clicking a Live Set, in cases where the Live Set was corrupted
- Fixed a problem which might prevent AU presets from recalling correctly
Interface Improvements:
- Improved CPU usage by reducing the amount of graphic updates for the Detail View
- Live's window contents no longer briefly flicker after changes to a hardware display setup
- Depending on the language used in Live, the progress of the crash recovery wasn't visible on the splash screen because the text was clipped
- Improved the drag and drop handling on HiDPI screens. Previously, dragging a file from Explorer into Live would show the file at the wrong position in Live (Windows only)
- Fixed a bug which caused text to overflow on top of the frame containing the browser's search field
- Fixed a bug which caused clips to be incorrectly colored when readded to a Live Set, if an .asd file was previously created
- On Windows 10 with HiDPI displays, dragging and dropping within Live, into Live, and within scaled plug-ins now works as expected. Please note that dragging and dropping from Live to other programs or to HiDPI-aware plug-ins may still cause issues when HiDPI Mode is active
- Fixed a bug where sequences of visually short borderless notes would be nearly invisible if crowded into overlapping pixel areas

MIDI editor:
- When folding an empty MIDI clip in a Drum Rack that contained at least one chain receiving all notes, the clip would fold to that chain only, whereas now the clip will not fold at all. Also, when switching between audio clips while a warp marker was selected, the Seg. BPM box would erroneously show the tempo of the previously selected marker. This would also lead to jumps in the displayed waveform visualization when the tempo was adjusted
- The Note Ruler in the MIDI Editor can now be double-clicked to vertically zoom to all used key tracks. In a multi-clip editing scenario, notes of all clips are taken into account, whereas previously only the notes of the foreground clip were considered. Additionally, fixed a bug which prevented the vertical zoom state from initializing correctly under certain circumstances
Fixed a few minor bugs in the MIDI Editor:
- when selecting one out of many selected notes, the selection would not revert to the selected note
- when opening the context menu while hovering over a background note, and then clicking outside of the context menu, the background note would remain in a hovered state
- when hovering over a background note, it was possible to highlight a momentarily invisible foreground note
Multi Clip Editing:
- Previously, the adaptive grid size of a newly created clip could sometimes be incorrectly calculated when multi-clip editing
Navigation:
- Tracks in the Arrangement View would scroll out of view completely when toggling Automation Mode if the highlighted track was not visible
- When resizing an Arrangement track, only tracks whose header is selected will be resized. Previously, a track might be erroneously resized if a content selection existed on that track
- When scrolling up and down in the Arrangement View using a mousewheel, the view would only move in very small increments
- Previously, when extracting a Drum Rack chain to a new track, the zoom level and time selection were erroneously applied to the newly created clip
- When undoing the deletion of a note while in Arrangement View, the Clip View zoom level unexpectedly zoomed in to that note
- Previously, scrolling the Arrangement's mixer section with a mousewheel was not possible
- Previously, the time selection status display would not get updated when selecting a clip in the Arrangement
- The grid modifier would not toggle the grid when changing the time selection or moving the insert marker with the arrow keys
- Dragging a device over a Session return track header that overlapped a group device chain header would cause erratic scrolling in Session View
- On macOS, grid snapping would erroneously toggle when setting the Arrangement loop start/stop marker position by clicking inside the Arrangement View scrub area while holding the [CMD] modifier
Nested Groups:
- Fixed a crash that occurred when duplicating a nested Group Track containing a plug-in with an active modal dialog while Live's second window was open
New Devices and Device Improvements:
- The Arpeggiator device could lead to crashes under certain circumstances
- AU plug-in parameters might behave erratically when being controlled with the mouse, under certain circumstances
- It was erroneously possible to tweak parameters in the expanded view of certain devices, even if the track was frozen
- Under certain circumstances, some Wavetable and Echo parameters would not respond smoothly
- Simpler's settings would not be recalled correctly, if the device was set to Slice by Beat and its playback was not warped
- Echo's timing would change when exporting audio at a different sample rate than the one currently in use
- Under certain circumstances, Wavetable's polyphonic voice stealing would cause certain notes to get stuck
- A crash might occur when trying to preview a Live Clip in Live's browser, if this referenced a Wavetable device

- Dropping many samples onto a Simpler or a Drum Rack would take much longer in Live 10 than it did in Live 9

Setup:

What's new in this version:
Arrangement:
- Warped Arrangement audio clips can now be stretched by holding down Shift while dragging their border.
- It is now possible to move Arrangement clips within a time selection using the arrow left/right keys. To toggle grid snapping, hold down the "CMD" (Mac) / "Alt" (PC) modifier key
- It is now possible to slide the contents of an Arrangement clip within the clip's boundaries, by holding "Alt+Shift" (Mac) / "Ctrl+Shift" (PC) then clicking and dragging the lower half of the clip. To toggle grid snapping, hold down the "CMD" (Mac) / "Alt" (PC) modifier key
- In the Arrangement, the "Reverse" command can now be performed on a time selection via the new "R" shortcut key. When using Reverse on a partially-selected clip in Arrangement, only the selected part is reversed

- It is now possible to enable MIDI note chasing via the "Chase MIDI Notes" command in the Options menu
- It is possible to import an audio or MIDI file via the Create menu. Depending on the track type, this command is named "Import MIDI File…" or "Import Audio File". Automation:
- Introduced a global automation mode. In the Arrangement, the visibility of all automation lanes is now toggled via the Automation Mode button or the "A" key. When the automation lanes are visible

- When breakpoints are created close to a grid line, they now automatically snap to the grid
- Automation values are now displayed when hovering over a breakpoint, or dragging any of the following: an automation segment, multiple automation segments within a time selection, or multiple breakpoints in a time selection
- It is now possible to create automation breakpoints by double-clicking anywhere in an envelope view/automation lane

Capture:
- Introduced Capture: a new way to get music into Live
Devices:
- Introduced Wavetable, a new Instrument for Live. Wavetable is a dual oscillator wavetable synthesizer with flexible modulation, that brings harmonically rich and expansive modern sounds to Live’s sonic palette.
- Introduced Echo, a new audio effect device for Live. Echo is a modulation delay that is capable of a wide range of sounds, from tape-saturated and bucket-brigade styles, right through to modern, clean and digital delays. Echo includes an LFO that modulates filter frequency and delay time, and an envelope follower that can be blended with the LFO. Noise and Wobble parameters simulate sound artifacts found in vintage delays. Also included are a distortion switch, a reverb, stereo width control, a ducking compressor, a gate, a feedback signal inversion switch, and a toggle for repitching and crossfading repeats
- Introduced Drum Buss, a new audio effect for Live. An analog-style drum processor, Drum Buss is designed to add body and character to a group of drums, while gluing them together in a tight mix. Drum Buss combines the most used drum processing tools into a single device, which includes distortion, a compressor, low-frequency enhancement, a transient shaper and a control for dampening high frequency response
- Introduced Pedal, a new audio effect device for Live. Pedal is a guitar distortion effect that can also be used in less conventional settings, e.g. as a standalone effect on synths or drums. Pedal has three different modes: Overdrive, Distortion and Fuzz. Each mode was inspired by distortion pedals with their own distinct sonic characteristics, including: warm and smooth, tight and aggressive, and bluesy yet broken
- Introduced the improved Utility device for Live. The Gain control can now be adjusted from -infinite dB to +35 dB. The Left / Right Phase buttons now invert Utility’s input signal instead of its output signal. Furthermore, the layout has been redesigned to fit new features, including a Mono switch, a Bass Mono switch, a Bass Mono Frequency slider, a Bass Mono Audition button, and a Balance knob control (which replaces the Panorama slider). Older Sets will continue to sound the same due to an added legacy mode. Older Utility devices can be upgraded via a button in the title bar
- Extended EQ Eight's minimum frequency down to 10 Hz
- When loading a short sample into an empty Simpler instance, Warp and Loop are now deactivated: only long samples inherit "Warp On" and "Loop On" from an existing audio Clip or a pre-existing *.asd file, as before. Additionally, when a sample is already loaded into Simpler, replacing it with a new one will retain all the previous settings related to warping or looping
File handling:
- It is now possible to export MP3, FLAC and WAVPACK
- Upon saving a Set using "Save Live Set", "Save Live Set As" or "Save a Copy", the previous version gets moved into a backup folder of the current Project. Up to 10 old versions of the Set are stored in this folder
- When saving a Live Set, the undo history is no longer cleared. The original file and history position are remembered when creating, loading and saving a Live set and the information is used to restore the Live set after a crash
- Improved naming and sorting of recorded audio files, by attaching a timestamp to the filename

- On Windows, the preference to enable HiDPI is now enabled by default for new users of Live 10. Additionally, VST plugins which had UI issues on HiDPI screens in the default scaled mode now work out of the box as long as this is enabled. Please note that certain HiDPI plugins might require to manually disable scaling (via context menu) in order to use them on HiDPI screens
- On Windows, it is now possible to decide on a per plug-in basis how its GUI is scaled on HiDPI screens. This is achieved via a context menu by right-clicking on the plug-in device either in the browser or in the Detail View. By default, provided HiDPI is enabled in the Preferences, the plug-in window is scaled so that it has the proper size on HiDPI screens. If the setting is disabled, the plug-in will appear much smaller in size, but this helps in cases where the mouse would behave erratically when trying to interact with the plug-in UI
- Context menu items now react when the mouse is released, instead of after the initial mouse click. This makes it possible to drag away from a selection to cancel triggering an item, while keeping the context menu open
Link:
- You can now start or stop multiple Link-running applications at the same time, both on a single device and across multiple devices
Max for Live:
- Max is now bundled in Live, and no longer requires a separate installation
- Max has been optimized so that devices load faster and use less CPU
- Max is now loaded at startup, instead of when the first Max device is loaded

Navigation:
- It is now possible to zoom to (and back from) time selection in Arrangement and in Detail View. This feature can be triggered with the "Z" and "Shift + Z" respectively, via the View menu, or via a context menu item
- It is now possible to zoom vertically and horizontally in the Arrangement View, using two-finger trackpad gestures or a mousewheel. Pressing "ALT" (Mac/Win) while scrolling vertically zooms the amplitude/pitch axis of the selected track(s). Pressing "CMD" (Mac) / "CTRL" (Win) while scrolling vertically zooms the timeline to the cursor position
- Added "Show All Tracks" in the View and context menus in the Arrangement View. This minimizes all tracks, allowing you to see as many as possible on your screen. The action can also be triggered via the "S" shortcut
- It is now possible to scroll horizontally using the Shift modifier key also on Windows
- On U.S. keyboards, it is now possible to zoom by pressing "+" without using the Shift modifier key
- When time is selected within an Arrangement clip, Detail View's display now zooms in on the selected time

General:

- Audio tracks will be automatically named by the clips that are added onto them. If there is a single session or arrangement clip in a track, then the name of the track will follow the name of that clip. If more clips are added, the track will stick with whatever name it took when there was only one clip. If all clips are removed from the track, the track will return to its default name
- Dragging clips from an existing track to the clip/device drop area creates a new track with those clips, and also the devices from the original tracks
- Audio effects can now be dragged to the Master track's Scene Launch area in Session View
MIDI Clip Mode:
- Notes are now shown in Push 2’s Clip Mode, when a MIDI clip is selected. The velocity of each note is also indicated by the note's opacity
- It is now possible to crop a MIDI Clip from Push 2's Clip Mode
Note Layouts:
- Introduced a new note layout mode on Push, consisting of a 32-step sequencer on the top half of the pad matrix and 32 notes on the bottom half. Users can press pads in the lower section to select which notes to add via the step sequencer, in the upper section. Users can see, add, and remove pitches from steps by holding the respective pads
- Added a loop selector to the 32-pad melodic step sequencer layout. Users can access it by holding the Layout button on Push 2 or holding the Note button on Push 1
- On Push 1 and 2, layouts are now remembered per track
- The Loop Selector has been removed from the Melodic Sequencer on Push 1 and 2 to allow sequencing of eight notes at a time. The Loop Selector is accessable by momentarily holding the Note button (Push 1) or Layout button (Push 2)
- When using the 16 Velocities layout, holding the "Note" button on Push 1 or "Layout" button on Push 2 now toggles the Loop Selector
- When using the 16-pad layout in Drum Racks and Simpler’s Slicing Mode, holding the "Note" button (Push 1) or "Layout" button (Push 2) momentarily toggles the 16 Velocities layout
- It is now possible to access the Loop Selector while in 64-pad layout by holding the "Note" button (Push 1) or "Layout" button (Push 2)
- Pressing "Shift"+"Note" (Push 1) or "Shift"+"Layout" (Push 2) now locks the selected layout’s alternate layout. This removes the need to hold the "Note" or "Layout" button, freeing up that hand for other tasks. Pressing "Note" (Push 1) or "Layout" (Push 2) again unlocks the alternate layout

- Added support for the Arturia MiniLab MkII control surface. In order for the script to function correctly, it is recommended to update the Minilab MkII Firmware to the latest version available.
Bug fixes:
- If a dropdown or context menu was open in Live, pressing CMD+Shift+- on a Mac OS would cause Live to crash.
- The GUI would appear laggy when zooming in audio tracks and moving the zooming hotspot on Windows if the files were being streamed from a hard drive.

- The ‘Link’ icon in Live's main UI now behaves like a button, toggling the Link feature on and off. This button only appears if Link is enabled in the Preferences.

- When dragging a sample from an audio track into Simpler from Live, Push 2 would erroneously still display the audio Clip view, even if the track containing Simpler was selected.
- After a Drum Rack pad containing Simpler is selected, Device Mode would still display its controls upon selecting a different track.
